Despite the sea-like rainy weather, the guests of the celebration were in high spirits, with over 120 people gathering at the local pier. Every attendee had looked forward to a warm reunion with their colleagues and heartfelt conversations in their shared fishermen's language. Beyond lively interactions, the veterans were greeted at the local pier with festive music, warm wishes, and pollock fillet from the Russian Pollock Plant, an essential part of Fisherman's Day.
The festive atmosphere was felt even from afar: a pot of hot pilaf, fisherman's soup, and delicious pastries were cooked for the veterans. Over a cup of tea, the main guests of Fisherman'sDay seized the opportunity to reminisce about old times and express their gratitude to their supportive and considerate company.
"After completing my studies at Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University, I joined JSC TURNIF, a subsidiary of the Russian Fishery Company. That was way back in 1976. I served as a chief mate, captain, and later as the Deputy General Director for Maritime Safety at TURNIF. My primary objective was to ensure the safety of production and the well-being of my colleagues. Both 40 years ago and today, the Russian Fishery Company prioritizes the welfare ofits employees. It is heartening that we still feel valued and in demand even after all these years. I am glad that I made the right decision back then."
For all attendees, the Fisherman's Day is more than just a date; it is the ultimate celebration. These individuals have devoted a significant part of their lives to the fishing industry, speaking of it with pride while trying to contain the whirlwind of emotions that are nonetheless visible in their eyes.
"I served as the Head of the Administrative Department. I have dedicated 50 years of my life to the Russian Fishery Company. It is hard to believe that fifty years have flown by and yet, it is equally unbelievable that all my colleagues are still here with me. We share a close bond with them and the company, and continue to feel like we are part of the team. We gather not only on the eve of Fisherman's Day and New Year's Day, but also throughout the year. So, once a fisherman, always a fisherman."
The Russian Fishery Company has a Veterans Council comprising over 140 distinguished company employees. They enjoy not only celebrations but also financial aid and assistance in resolving social and domestic issues, according to the members of the Veterans Council.
"This moral and financial support keeps us feeling youthful, energetic, and happy. Thanks to the care we receive, we are celebrating our professional holiday, while being filled with emotions and gifts, surrounded by our close ones. I extend my congratulations to RFC staff on Fisherman'sDay and wish them success in all their company endeavors."
