RFC Showcases Wild Pollock Products at China Fisheries and Seafood Expo

11/12/2024
Russian Fishery Company (RFC) continues to introduce value-added products to the Asian market. From October 30 to November 1, RFС participated in China Fisheries and Seafood Expo in Qingdao, the premier fishery industry exhibition for China and the entire Asia-Pacific region.

At the China Fisheries and Seafood Expo (CFSE), Russian Fishery Company presented a diverse range of wild white fish products, specifically pollock, including value-added items such as fillets, surimi, and pollock roe.

Throughout the exhibition, the joint stand of RFC and its exclusive distributor (Pacific Rim Group) welcomed over 10,000 visitors. Visitors showed a great interest in the various products from RFC and their Asian processing partners, including fish balls, fish sausages, hotpot pollock cubes, and fish cake. The surimi-based children's product line, developed in collaboration with partners, was of special interest for the exhibition visitors.

During the international exhibition, RFC's stand hosted over 100 business meetings with representatives from China, Japan, and Korea to discuss cooperation opportunities. Negotiations with major companies including Haifa, Joy Sun, Xai Xin, Ri Zhao Mei Jia, Power on, Panfish (Shanghai), Ding Wei Tai, Liaoyu, Weihai Weidao, and others, were held at the stand.

The Russian Fishery Company and its Chinese partners share a long history of cooperation to improve collaboration efforts. Considering the increasing interest of Chinese consumers in healthy food, our eco-friendly and nutrient-dense wild white fish is just what they need. Pollock contains numerous minerals, vitamins, and unsaturated fatty acids that have beneficial effects on the body.

All RFC's products showcased at the exhibition are produced and flash-frozen at sea on the company's fishing trawlers, preserving the nutritional and health benefits of fresh wild white fish caught in the pristine, cold waters of the Pacific Ocean.

The majority of the presented products are made from pollock surimi produced on RFC's new super trawlers. Using state-of-the-art vessels has enabled the company to boost the production of sea-frozen fish fillet and manufacture high-quality surimi.

The first ever Golden Pollock award ceremony also took place at the China Fisheries and Seafood Expo. RFC established this award in 2023 to foster productive partnerships with Chinese companies in the fishing industry. This year, Ding Wei Tai and Power on received valuable awards for their effective collaboration, development and introduction of new pollock products, high-quality production, and successful promotion on the global markets.

As part of the exhibition, RFC also participated in a presentation featuring dishes made of pollock roe. At the Association of Pollock Producers (ADM) stand, Russian fish producers introduced exhibition visitors to the diverse flavors of pollock roe. Pollock roe is a relatively new product in the Chinese market. A series of workshops and tastings led by a Chinese chef were conducted to develop a strategy for introducing these products to the PRC market.

The RFC regularly represents Russia at the unified national stand at CFSE. This year marks the 27th CFSE, taking place at the Hongdao International Convention and Exhibition Center (HICEC) in Qingdao. Each year, the exhibition brings together representatives from fishing, processing, aquaculture, and related service companies from 120 countries. Apart from Russia, the exhibition featured stands from Canada, Chile, Ecuador, India, Japan, Ireland, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, South Korea, the USA, and Vietnam.
